Day 10

Have a read at the amazing story told in 1 Samuel 1 v 1-20.

Could you imagine how Hannah must have felt having the one thing she longed for and couldn’t have, shoved in her face every day, for years. I don’t know about you, but if I were in Hannah’s shoes I would not have had the reaction she did.

Instead of retaliating or letting herself become filled with resentment, Hannah turned to God. She fasted and prayed, asking God to bless her with a son. In fact, the Bible tells us that she prayed with such passion that the priest Eli believed she was drunk.

There are two things I love about this story…

1. Instead of taking out years of anger, hurt and frustration on those around her, Hannah poured out her heart to God.

2. Hannah, although knowing she could not have children fasted and prayed, asking God for a child. It was impossible for her to have children, but that didn’t stop her from taking it to God.

Hannah was blessed with a baby boy, Samuel; he went on to be a prophet. From Hannah’s fasting and prayers came a blessing not only to her, but also to many others.

What have you been longing for? Be encouraged with todays reading to have faith like Hannah and take it to God. Fast, pray, and believe God can make the impossible possible.

Cornerstone Prayer Focus: Why not pray for our worship team as God is making the dream of releasing original songs a reality. Pray God will continue to put songs on their hearts that will minister to many people.
